ABOUT US

Our mission

We want our communities to work better for people and for the planet. And we want to do that in a way that makes us feel better.

Our small team at Pobl Tir Môr has a passion for knowledge, learning, delivering meaningful projects and making good things happen! We want to work with others, learn from others, and share this learning and experience along the way.

We are inspired by our own experiences of working in the community and sustainability sectors across Pembrokeshire and beyond. We take inspiration from the Welsh Government’s Well-Being of Future Generations Act and feel proud of the fact that Wales was the first country to make the well-being of current and future generations the principle at the heart of government!

By embedding these principles into our everyday work, we hope to help make this policy a reality.

What we want to do

Make good things happen, for people and planet .

Help more people to have the know-how and confidence to develop and deliver community, environment, and sustainability projects.

Get people more involved in what’s happening in their communities.

Bring more investment into communities (particularly those that need it most, which are often those where the least is happening).

How we do it

By using the Well-Being of Future Generations Act goals and ways of working in all our projects (and helping other people to do the same).

By asking the right questions, thinking critically and not being afraid to do things differently.

By involving a wide range of people and collaborating. We firmly believe in promoting community participation and co-production in our projects, and emphasising collaboration over competition.

By sharing knowledge. Rather than retaining knowledge, we aim is to share it for the benefit of all. If we think we have a way of doing things that works well, we will share it, hopefully helping more people do things in a better way.

By actively promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion and encouraging others to do the same.  We recognise the value that different perspectives and experiences bring to our organisation and projects. Ultimately, we want to be able to offer jobs to as wide a range of people as possible, to help more people, and different types of people, to be able to do the work we do.

By working in a way that actively benefits us and our families in places that help to make us as healthy and well as possible. We are dedicated to promoting and providing flexible and inclusive working practices and premises that support overall well-being. We understand that a supportive and inclusive environment leads to better outcomes for everyone involved.
